BASE: Dahm named to Mount Mercy baseball post

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Athletics Director Scot Reisinger has announced that Jack Dahm is the new head coach of the Mount Mercy baseball team.

"The excitement of the new athletic complex at Mount Mercy can only be exceeded by the hiring of Jack Dahm," said Reisinger. "His baseball knowledge and experience, combined with his commitment to the academic success of the student-athletes he coaches, make him a perfect fit to lead our baseball program."

Dahm was the head coach at the University of Iowa from 2003-13. The Hawkeyes qualified for the Big Ten Tournament three times, finishing second in 2010. It was their highest finish in the tournament since 1982.

"Jack Dahm has had a fabulous coaching career and we could not be more enthused about his accomplishments and ability to lead the Mustang baseball program," said Mount Mercy President Laurie Hamen, J.D. "As we build a new home field advantage, Jack matches the excellence we achieve in sports with student achievement."

Prior to his tenure at Iowa, Dahm was the head coach at Creighton University from 1993-2003. The Bluejays made back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 1999 and 2000 and Dahm was a two-time Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2002.

"I want to thank President Hamen and Scot Reisinger for this tremendous opportunity to lead the Mount Mercy baseball program," Dahm said. "This is a very exciting time to join the Mount Mercy family and I can't wait to get to work.

"President Hamen and Scot have a vision for the University and the athletic department that I believe in. I'm very fortunate to join a talented and passionate athletic staff that has accomplished a lot and continues to strive for more championships."
