MWL: Kernels Roster Moves April 26th, 2014

Cedar Rapids, IA -- The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that OF Ivory Thomas and RHP Todd Van Steensel will join the Kernels from Extended Spring Training. Brad Steil, Director of Minor League Operations for the Twins, announced the move.
The Twins selected Thomas in the 34th round of the 2013 First Year Player Draft out of Cal State Dominguez Hills. He played for the GCL Twins in 2013, batting .255 with three RBI in 16 games.
The Twins signed Van Steensel as a non-drafted free agent on February 6, 2014. He played last season for the Sydney Blue Sox of the Australian Baseball League, posting an 0-1 record and 3.50 ERA in 15 relief appearances. In 18 IP he allowed 18 hits and 11 runs (seven earned) with 10 walks and 22 strikeouts.
Thomas and Van Steensel will be active and available for todays 2:00 pm game at Clinton. With todays transaction, the Kernels roster is at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with four players currently on the DL and one player on the Restricted List.
The Kernels continue a seven game road trip today at 2:00 pm at Clinton. The Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, April 28th and open a seven game home stand with games against Kane County and Peoria.
