1 Killed in Waterloo Shooting

WATERLOO, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- The Waterloo Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting which left one man dead.

Police responded to a report of a man lying in the street in the 200 block of Jackson Street just before 2:00 AM on Saturday.

Once there, officers found Gary Wilson, 27, with a wound to his abdomen.  Officers began CPR and transported him to a Waterloo hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police believe he was involved in an altercation at 241 Jackson Street and was shot shortly after leaving that location.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny.

Police are not releasing any additional details and say that the investigation is ongoing.
