Friday Night Lights Voting Kicks Off Soon

JOHNSON COUNTY, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - Farming aside, is there anything more Iowan than football and voting?

Perhaps it's appropriate then that Johnson County Auditor Travis Weipert is about to kick off a new mobile voting initiative at high school football games this fall.

The Friday Night Lights satellite voting series will hit six different football games in Johnson County, on the following dates:

  • August 29:
At Solon vs. Regina 4-9 p.m. (For Solon School Bond election, not November 4 general election. Only Solon voters permitted.)
  • September 26:
At Clear Creek Amana vs. Keokuk
  • October 3:
At Iowa City Regina vs. Columbus
  • October 10:
    At Lone Tree vs. Pekin
  • October 17:
At West High vs. Davenport North
  • October 24:
    At City High vs. Muscatine

Hours for the Friday Night Lights sites will vary depending on kickoff times. Game admission is not required to vote, and voters can come from anywhere in the county for any game, except the August 29 game, which is only for the Solon school bond election.
