Man Threatens to Cut Officer's Head Off

CORALVILLE, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) – Two men are facing charges after an alleged stabbing in Coralville early Thursday morning.

Just before 4:00, police arrived to 922 20th Ave Place.

There they found 37-year-old Ramon Duron outside with a stab wound to his hand.

When officers tried to approach Duron, he became combative and started making threats.

Duron told officer that he had been stabbed by 25-year-old Maxwell Dietz, who police say tried to get away in a vehicle.

Dietz claims he stabbed Duron in self-defense after Duron made threats toward him and his girlfriend.

Dietz was arrested and charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon.

Duron would be taken to the hospital for his injuries, but officers say he began kicking officers and paramedics providing him with medical care. Duron also told an officer that once he got out of the hospital, he was going to find the officer’s home and cut his head off and “put it on a stake in his front yard so his kids could see it.” Duron also made threats to kill a female officer.

Duron is charged two counts of first-degree harassment and possession of marijuana after officers found he had pot on his person.

Both Duron and Dietz remain in the Johnson County Jail.
