Inmate Escapes From Iowa Jail

FORT DODGE, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) – Authorities in central Iowa are on the hunt for an inmate they say escaped from a Fort Dodge jail Thursday night.

The Webster County Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Jason Sullivan escaped the prison while doing laundry.

They say Sullivan and another inmate, 32-year-old George Johnson moved a dryer to gain entrance to another room with an air vent.

They then used sheets as a rope to make their way through the vent to access an alley.

Officers retook Johnson into custody at a hospital after he was injured during the escape.

Sullivan remains on the loose.
