First Pet Fair Held in CR

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) It was a first and it wont be a last in Cedar Rapids on Saturday.

The Animal Control Center held its first ever pet fair to help educate the community on how to be responsible pet owners, including having their furry loved vaccinated and micro-chipped.

"We are Animal Control and we're the ones that see all the stray animals or the ones that become problems and bite somebody and they have to come here for quarantine Diane Weber said. The more we can educate the public and help them do the responsible thing, the better off it's going to be for our job and the community."

The fair also spent time reminding pet owners to never leave their pets in parked cars on hot days and to always make sure they have plenty of water at home.
