Linn Co. Heart Walk to Take Place Saturday

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Heart disease is still America's number one killer, accounting for one of every three deaths.

Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect in Iowa.
Tatum Henderson of Cedar Rapids was born with a rare combination of congenital heart defects - "Tetralogy of the Fallot," which consists of up to five separate heart conditions. By the time Tatum was six-months-old, she had undergone two open heart surgeries and will face even more as she continues to grow.

On Saturday morning, the Linn County Heart Walk will take place at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids to raise critical dollars for life-saving research and education to help those like Tatum in their fight against cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Registration for the Heart Walk begins at 8:00am with opening ceremonies beginning at 9:00am and the walk beginning immediately after. Participants will have a choice of walking either a one-mile or three-mile route.  You can find more information at
