Dubuque Police Investigate Fake Bills

DUBUQUE, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- The Dubuque Police Department is warning people about counterfeit $20 bills that have been circulating in the city.

They describe the bills as looking authentic but having a thicker feel than normal.  They say they also do not pass a counterfeit pen test.  They say they have identified two serial numbers that have been used, but that it's possible others have been used as well.

The counterfeit serial numbers identified are JB19936678F and JG46657565C.

Police are asking consumers, businesses, as well as financial institutions to be vigilant for the counterfeit currency.  Anyone with information or counterfeit bills should contact police.
