Police Say Man Drove Off in Officer's Vehicle

IOWA CITY, IA (AP) - Iowa City police say they've arrested a Minnesota man after he allegedly admitted he broke an apartment's window to distract authorities from underage drinking at a party.

Police also say 20-year-old Aaron Tyler, of Lakeville, Minnesota, took an officer's vehicle for a short drive.

Police received a report Saturday that a man had kicked out an apartment's window. They say they later found Tyler behind the wheel of a police vehicle after they arrived.

The department says the vehicle was left running with the keys in the ignition, while the officer was responding to the broken window call.

Police say Tyler failed a sobriety test.

Tyler was released Sunday from jail after posting bond. Online jail records don't show an attorney for Tyler.
