Moutain Bikers Compete in Waterloo

WATERLOO, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) – Visitors to George Wyth State Park in Waterloo may have encountered something more commonly associated with the inter-mountain west on Sunday.

More than 100-people riders took part in a mountain bike race that consisted of five-mile long loop.

The race was split into different division based on age and ability, which organizers say provided a challenging, but fun activity for all.

"The unique thing about mountain biking is you need the endurance,” race director, Lee Geisinger said. “You need the hand-eye coordination, you need to be able to look ahead of the trail and where you're currently riding."

Geisinger described Sunday’s course as flat, but at the same time, fast, giving some beginner riders a first-time experience to remember
