Japanese Delegation Arrives in Sioux City

SIOUX CITY, IA (AP) -- A delegation from Sioux City's Japanese sister city has arrived in the northwest Iowa city.

The Sioux City Journal reports that local officials met with the delegation on Thursday as the group arrived for a five-day visit to the United States.

Officials and students from Yamanashi City met with Sioux City Council members at City Hall before embarking on a historical tour of the city. Yamanashi City Mayor Seiki Mochizuki says the city has left a good first impression.

Yamanashi City was named Sioux City's sister city under an arrangement reached in November 2003.

Over the rest of their stay, the group will tour local schools, take in a minor league baseball game and attend dinner events.
