Something Missing from State Fair Opening
DES MOINES, IA (KCCI-TV) --It takes an enormous amount of planning and organization to pull off the Iowa State Fair each year.
The State Fair opened Thursday morning with the official opening ceremony on Expo Hill that was suppose to include a ribbon cutting.
State Fair officials, guests and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds were ready for the opening at 9 a.m. They took the stage and then the minutes clicked by -- something was missing.
The ribbon used for the official ribbon cutting was missing.
After 4-5 minutes, officials decided to continue with the ceremony anyway officially declaring it open.
