Nearly Naked Man Rescued from River

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI-TV) —Water rescue crews were called to the Des Moines River Wednesday.

Witnesses reported a man went over the Center Street Dam on the river in downtown Des Moines about 12:10 p.m.
Crews were along the river and working to get to the man a short time later. Crews dropped ropes down from the Locust Street bridge and the man was able to grab hold for a while.
The wet team was able to get to the nearly naked man and help him get into shallow water before being able to pull him out of the river near the Police Station about 12:30 p.m.  He was taken to a hospital.
The man's condition and name are not yet available.
