UI Research Funding, Corporate Partners Up
IOWA CITY, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - The University of Iowa has more funding from outside sources this year, including more money for research.
The university secured $7 million more for its research efforts, much of it from new sources, including corporate partnerships.
Federal funds are at near-historic low levels, so the UI has increased its number of industry and corporate partners to bring money. They've increased their funding from the private sector by 13 percent.
That's a crucial lesson for some student researchers at the National Advanced Driving Simulator.
"Working here gives me experience that you're still able to find money somewhere," said UI senior Jacob Heiden.
"We are up in dollars, so it's nice to know that's still possible," said UI graduate and researcher Erin Abbas.
