Boy Dies In Grain Bin Accident

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, WI (CBS2/FOX28) -- A 9-year-old Lancaster, Wisconsin boy died Thursday after becoming trapped in a grain bin.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office responded to 2558 Dry Hollow Road in Liberty Township at 11:18 a.m. after a report of a person trapped in a grain bin. Several fire departments and specialized teams conducted rescue and recovery operations, and found the boy at 12:35 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say a half-full grain bin's auger became stuck and stopped working. The boy and several family members were trying to fix the auger when the boy became trapped inside the grain bin.

Authorities at this time are not releasing the boy's name.
