Controversy Stirs Over Braley Comment

IOWA FALLS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) Senate hopeful Bruce Braley is fighting a battle of public perception.
Over the holiday weekend, the democrat was caught on camera shouting something that some say is false.
In that video released to the Des Moines Register on Sunday, someone at the parade tells Braley "We're farmers" in the video, you hear Braley respond, "So am I."
According to his federal financial disclosure report obtained by the Register, Braley is not an active farmer, doesn't own farm land and doesn't earn any farm income.
His campaign aides say it was a simple mistake and that he thought the woman said "We're for farmers" and he was simply replying to that statement.
They say his actions back up those words; reminding people that Braley voted for the farm bill.
Republicans though, have jumped on the video saying that he is just trying to cover up the gaffe.
Braley is currently running for the state senate seat being left open by retiring Senator Tom Harkin, and will face republican Joni Ernst in November.
