Marion Residents Meet Fire Candidates

MARION, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- Residents in Marion gathered for a public reception Saturday to meet the four candidates for fire chief. The reception  took place at Marion City Hall at 1225 6th Avenue.

The Marion Fire Department is looking for a candidate to succeed Chief Terry Jackson who retired this spring. Four candidates, two internal and two external, will be interviewing for the position. Residents are encouraged to meet the candidates and ask them questions. 

The candidates include: Jason Hansen: Hansen has been with the Marion Fire Department for 15 years and currently serves as district chief/fire marshal. He obtained his bachelor's degree in fire science through Columbia Southern University.

Debra Krebill: Krebill has been with the Marion Fire Department for 23 years and currently serves as interim fire chief. She obtained her bachelor's degree in fire administration at Western Illinois University.

James Larsen: Larsen has been in the fire service for 33 years with both combination and paid departments. He currently serves as an emergency incident management instructor and resides in Hampshire, Illinois. He has a bachelor's degree in fire service management from Southern Illinois University.

Lenny Sanders: Sanders has 20 years of fire service and emergency medical service experience.  He currently serves as a staff critical care paramedic in West Burlington, Iowa. He obtained his bachelor's degree in fire science administration from Waldorf College.
