School Board Appoints Lynch as President

IOWA CITY, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - The Iowa City Community School District appointed current board member Chris Lynch as president to fill the vacancy left by former president Sally Hoelscher resigned last week.  

Board member Brian Kirschling nominated Lynch for the position. Board member Patti Fields also nominated Tuyet Dorau, and the vote fell 4-2 in favor of Lynch. 

Lynch will serve at least until a reorganizing meeting in September. 

The board will also appoint someone to fill the open seat left by Hoelscher. The board is accepting applications for the position until July 14, and will make the appointment during a special meeting on July 21.
