ISU Experts: Throw Out Recalled Fruit

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - Food safety experts at Iowa State University say Iowans need to throw out the fruit identified in a nationwide recall this week.

The recall involves Wawona packing Orchard Perfect brand peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots purchased between June 1 and July 12.

They may have been exposed to Listeria.

The fruit was sold at costco, wal-mart, whole foods and trader joes.

Listeria can cause flu like symptoms.

An ISU assistant professor says washing or canning the fruit will not get rid of the bacteria.
