Iowans Take Part in World Record Run

JOHNSTON, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- Runners from all corners of Iowa joined forces in Johnston to claim a spot among world records by doing a lot of running.

100 people, mostly high school and college students, took turns running five kilometers back-to-back for 28 hours between Friday and Saturday.

That added up to more than 300 miles.

Many said that the reality of their accomplishment likely won't set in for some time.  Some are already planning what their next record-breaking attempt will be.
