Edgewood Rd. Detour Begins Tuesday

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- A long-duration detour for Edgewood Rd. NE is on hold, but only for a day.   Crews will shutdown the busy four lane road where it intersects with Highway 100.  A detour has been built to accommodate motorists because the detour will last for about a year.
During that time, crews will construct a new bridge, allowing Highway 100 to pass below Edgewood Road as it extends out to Highway 30.
The Iowa Department of Transportation says they planned on beginning the detour on Monday, but they needed to install additional equipment to get the detour up and running.
They now plan to do that after the morning rush on Tuesday with the detour beginning sometime before the afternoon commute home.
