Iowa AD on Ticket Contest Cancellation
IOWA CITY, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- A contest offering the chance to win free tuition came and went in a matter of hours. Earlier this week, the University of Iowa announced the contest which would provide free tuition to a select few students who purchased football season tickets.
But shortly after the announcement, university officials called off the promotion.
In a statement to CBS2 News, Iowa Athletic Director Gary Barta said they were not sure the contest followed the law.
"A question has been raised whether the promotion is compliant with state raffle laws." Said Barta. "I have suspended the promotion temporarily as we determine how to make sure that this promotion is in complete compliance. In the end our goal is to do everything possible to make sure that the student experience at Hawkeye football games is as fun and exciting as possible."
