Sink Hole Opens Up in Johnson County

IOWA CITY, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- A sink hole opened up behind the Johnson County Sheriff's Office in Iowa City on Tuesday.

It happened in the south parking lot.

About a year ago, another sink hole opened up in the north parking lot.  When that happened, remnants of an old structure was found.  It is believed that the foundation of that old structure was never fully cleared out so rains weakened the new pavement poured over it.

The findings this time around aren't quite as extensive with only bits and pieces found.  The hole was opened up by construction workers and measured about ten by ten feet.
