Arrests In Connection With Shots Fired

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- Police have now charged two people who were arrested following one of three reports of shots fired in the city Sunday.

The first report came in at 4:51 p.m. Sunday, at 16th St. and Washington Ave. SE. After talking to people at the scene, officers stopped and arrested two men who were inside a vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting.

24-year-old Alvionta Turner was charged with carrying weapons. 26-year-old Fabion Taylor was charged with providing false identification information. Taylor was also taken in for failure to appear for a possession of controlled substance.

At 7:25 p.m. Sunday, a man was shot in his leg near 4th Ave. and 18th St. SE. The man's injury was not life-threatening. Officers found shell casings at the scene, and continue to investigate the incident.

At 10:05 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to shots fired call at 2105 North Towne Court NE. One person was grazed by a bullet, but refused medical treatment. During their investigation, police arrested two people on unrelated charges.

30-year-old David Nelson was charged with possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver marijuana. 22-year-old Ciara Dulin was charged with disorderly house.

Police are still investigating all three cases.
