Man Arrested After Two-Day Search

CEDAR COUNTY, IA (CBS2/FOX28) -- A Wapello man is now in custody after a two-day search.

At about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, a Cedar County deputy received a complaint of someone knocking on a residence door in the area of Jackson Ave. and Jackson Rd., northwest of Tipton. During the investigation, the deputy found a car sitting in the Red Oak public hunting area. After a short chase, the driver of the vehicle took off on foot.

Authorities identified the man ad 32-year-old Daniel Beeding, of Wapello.

On Thursday, the Cedar County Sheriff's Office received several complaints of a white man matching his description acting strange and asking to use a cell phone. At about 11:30 a.m., authorities spotted Beeding in Tipton, but they were not able to catch him.

The sheriff's office again received a complaint of someone knocking on doors in the 1300 block of Logan Ave., south of Tipton. Authorities saw Beeding running into a corn field, and later arrested him about two miles away.

Beeding was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. No other information is being released at this time.

Besides the Cedar County Sheriff's Office, 20 other agencies helped in the search.
