Iowans Mourn Loss of Decorah Eagle

DECORAH, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - Some sad news now from the Raptor Resource Project this morning.
Tuesday night, they announced that one of the young male eagles died after being electrocuted.
Bob Anderson, The Executive Director of the project says they were watching the eagle fly Tuesday morning and saw it try to land on a power pole.
They say the eagle was burnt on its wings, feathers and feet and did not survive.
Back in 2012, two eagles died after trying to land on similar poles and since then they have tried to retrofit poles around the area to avoid this kind of thing, but have not retrofitted all of them in the areas the eagles explore.
