U.S. Wants Nuclear Treaty Issue in Spotlight

MOSCOW, RUSSIA (CBS2/FOX28) The U.S. is now accusing Russia of violating a nuclear treaty that helped bring an end to the Cold War.
In what the White House calls a "very serious matter" President Obama sent a letter to Vladimir Putin accusing Russia of testing a new cruise missile.
That would violate the intermediate range nuclear forces treaty which was agreed to by the U.S. and Russia in 1987.
The treaty bans either country from launching missiles that can travel 300 to 34 thousand miles.
The accusation comes as President Obama and President Putin are at odds over several things, including the Russia/Ukraine crisis, the attack on Malaysia Airlines flight 17 and Russia granting asylum to NSA leaker Edward Snowden.
The White House says it has tried in the past to address the concern but Russia hasnt done anything about it so the White House wants to bring it to the forefront.
