ISU Researchers Find Best Activity Monitors
AMES, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - Iowa State University has made a great discovery for all of you who love to track those calories.
A lot of us use those little devices to track our exercise and match it with apps that record what we eat.
But which ones are the best?
Researchers at ISU tested eight different monitors to find out how spot on they actually were; turns out, not all are created equal.
A kinesiology professor found a majority of the devices gave reasonable estimates that were within 10-15% of calories burned.
He says people often overestimate their activity levels so it's important that monitors take that into consideration.
According to the research, BodyMedia FIT was the top performer followed by the Fitbit Zip and Fitbit One.
Those beat out DirectLife and the popular Nike FuelBand.
