CR Hosts Fire Chief Conference

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS 2/FOX28) - More than 80 fire chiefs from 8 states have made their way to Cedar Rapids for the Missouri Valley Fire Chiefs Conference.

The conference provides fire stations and officials from across the Midwest opportunities to network and share concerns about important issues.
Cedar Rapids fire officials say being able to meet with other fire departments can also provide new ways to strategize and put their resources to their best use.

Were all dealing with the same issues, Cedar Rapids Assistant Fire Chief, Curtis Hopper said. Whether its budget, personnel, and staffing issues like that, so its a good opportunity to discuss things that worked for those departments as well as ours and we can adapt with those.

Hopper also says hosting the conference provides the Cedar Rapids Fire Department a great opportunity to show-off their new fire station and new fire truck as well as showcase the citys flood recovery progress.

This is Cedar Rapids first time hosting the Missouri Valley Fire Chiefs Conference which will wrap up on Friday.
