Iowa City, Johnson County Street Closures

IOWA CITY, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - Iowa City closed Dubuque Street between Foster and Kimball Roads on Monday night due to heavy rainfall and flooding, according to a city press release.

City crews have set up detours and encourage people to find alternate routes, adding that morning commuters should expect delays.

Flash flooding happened throughout the city and the rest of Johnson County during Monday's storm, and county secondary roads crews have shut down several rural roads, as well. Not all roads with flooding have been closed, however, and county officials are urging drivers to travel only if necessary.

Johnson County Conservation crews have closed the Hills Access near the city of Hills and the River Junction Access, both due to rising water and flood danger on the Iowa RIver. The areas are closed until further notice.
