Iowa Teachers Prepare For The Worst

MUSCATINE, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - School shootings like the one in Oregon on Tuesday have led a few teachers here in Iowa to take action.
Teachers in Muscatine say they're tired of waiting for solutions to come to them, so they invented a device that will keep their classrooms safe in case of an emergency.
This comes after a teacher training where educators were taught to tie a belt around the door's closer arm, something they quickly realized was not a great option.
So Daniel Nitzel went home and designed The Sleeve; a 12 gauge carbon steel case that goes over the door's closer arm, securing it from the inside.
Once the sleeve is on the door it takes an incredible amount of force to be opened. The goal is that the shooter will try to open it, fail and move on.
