A Day at the Track

CENTRAL CITY, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) For some dads, Fathers Day was best spent at the Linn County Fair Grounds, where harness racing took center stage.

About 30 drivers competed in Sundays race and will race some more this summer to win a $6,000 grand prize.

Racing team owners say the energy from the crowd gives the drivers that extra-go they need as they race towards the finish line.
They also say they hope to see the sport catch on in Linn County in the future.

This is a nice track they have worked hard on through the years, owner Judy Roland said. Weve race here probably for the last, maybe, five or six years and the people here are always enthusiastic, which you can hear in the background.

Sundays races mart the lead-up to the Linn County Fair. That gets underway nest Wednesday.
