Ottumwa Continues Upgrade of Warning Systems

OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) -- Officials in Ottumwa have agreed to spend nearly $28,000 on new outdoor warning systems.
The Ottumwa Courier reports the City Council on Tuesday night approved the purchase of four of the systems, which cost $6,988 each. The city will pay for the systems through its capital fund.
The purchases are part of an ongoing effort to improve the southeast Iowa city's outdoor warning systems.
The council took action on a night when severe weather roared through southern Iowa, though Ottumwa missed the worst of the storms.
