Friendly Fire Kills Illinois Soldier
WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBS2/FOX28) - Five soldiers are dead after one of the worst friendly fire incident of the entire war in Afghanistan.
The pentagon says it happened because a US B1 bomber accidentally bombed the soldiers position instead of the Taliban soldiers who were attacking them.
One of the soldiers was from Mokena Illinois, the 19-year-old army private, deployed in March.
His family remembers him as a kind teen, with determination and honor.
Since the war in Afghanistan began in 2001, 2,328 soldiers have died.
