Life In Prison For Weapons Charges

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - A suspect in Northern Iowa murder will spend the rest of his life behind bars but not for the murder.
41-year-old Randy Patrie pleaded guilty to federal weapons charges on Thursday.
Investigators think Patrie was responsible for the 2012 murder of 70-year-old Carl Gallmeyer, but he has not been charged with his death yet.
Prosecutors wanted the judge to consider evidence related to that case when sentencing him for the weapons charges.
Last week, the judge said she would consider the evidence and sentenced him to life in prison.
Meanwhile, authorities are still investigating Gallmeyer's death, and Patrie could be headed to trial for that later on.
