Iowan to Plead Guilty in Hatchet Slaying

FORT DODGE, IA (AP) -- A woman accused in the hatchet slaying of a Fort Dodge man is expected to plead guilty after making a deal with prosecutors.

The Messenger reports that prosecutor Cori Kuhn Coleman won't say publicly what the plea agreement with Holly Ekstrom includes, but Coleman did say Ekstrom will file a written plea and be sentenced on July 7.

Ekstrom and Ronald Dilley were charged with killing 22-year-old Steven Fisher on July 6 last year. Fisher's body was found in a ditch by an Otho farmer on July 10.

Dilley told a judge that he hit Fisher four times in the head with a hatchet after Fisher made an upsetting comment.

Dilley is serving 50 years in prison.
