Debate Over Gubernatorial Debates

DES MOINES, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- The Branstad-Reynolds campaign is gearing up for election season by announcing what debates they will participate in.
They have accepted invitations for three general election debates in Des Moines, Burlington, and Sioux City.
All three debates will be televised.
The Des Moines debate will be held August 14th, the Burlington debate will be held September 20th and the Sioux City Debate will be held October 14th.
Meantime, Senator Jack Hatch, Governor  Branstad's opponent in the race for governor, says Governor Branstad accepted invitations without consulting him.
Hatch says his campaign will be accepting nine media sponsored debates this fall, which will include the three accepted by the Branstad/Reynolds campaign.
The Hatch campaign accepted other debates in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area, a debate on rural issues, another on job creation, one debate hosted by one of the state's universities, and a lieutenant governor debate.
