Warmer Weather Leaves Pool Dry

IOWA CITY, IA (AP) - Iowa City swimmers will need to wait a little longer to splash about in the outdoors as the opening of the City Park Pool is again being delayed.

The pool usually opens on the Memorial Day weekend but the season was delayed to June 7 because of cold temperatures that slowed the usual preparation tasks.

On Monday, the city announced the opening would be further delayed because of a broken main waste line.

Workers discovered the latest problem while filling the pool and noting a leak.

Repairs have started and work is expected to be completed within 10 days.
