Branstad/Hatch Clash Over Vetoes

DES MOINES, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- After signing several bills into law last week, Governor Terry Branstad also vetoed  several spending bills.
Among them: Iowa trails and parks under the "REAP" program receive a $2 million increase, short of the one legislators approved.
He also cut funding for multiple repair and construction projects at the state universities.
Today, Governor Branstad defended his vetoes while his opponent criticized them.
Governor Branstad says the cuts were necessary because of a $100 million drop-off in state revenues and the need to fund other priorities, like property tax, and education reforms.
