Group Protests Outback Steakhouse

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (CBS2/FOX28) - Protestors are rallying against Outback Steakhouse Restaurants across the state Wednesday night.

The center for worker justice of eastern Iowa is representing a woman who used to clean at the Outback in Coralville.

The woman claims the restaurant's cleaning contractor is refusing to pay her for nearly 50 days of work.

In response, Outback has cut ties with the contractor, but she saysthe restaurant isn't paying her either.

Misty Rebik works the eastern Iowa chapter of the center for worker justice.

"Kossiwa was on Outback premisis cleaning every night.  she didn't have a night off.  she worked 7 days a week and Outback benefitted directly from that labor," said Rebik.

The Coralville Outback Steakhouse closed earlier this year. Rallies were held Wednesday in Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Clive, and Sioux City.
