Ride For Evelyn Miller

WATERLOO, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28) - This summer will mark nine years since the disappearance and murder of 5-year-old Evelyn Miller in Floyd County.

On Saturday, motorcycle riders honored her memory with a tour through eastern Iowa.

Riders began the trip in Waterloo before riding through several other cities, including Evelyn's hometown of Floyd.

Organizers say they hope the ride will help spread the message of the awful truth of child abductions.

"We want people to be aware, not just for the money for the national center, but also at the same time to make people aware that abductions do happen very close to home, " Mindy Riley said.

Saturday's ride comes as Miller's family prepares for the trial of Casey Frederiksen who is accused of first degree murder and first degree sexual abuse for his role in Miller's death.

At the time of the murder, Frederiksen was the boyfriend of Miller's mother. His trial is set to begin later this year.
