Mason is 5th Highest Paid College President
Iowa City, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) - The president of the University of Iowa is apparently making a pretty hefty salary, at least compared to her colleagues.
A new Chronicle of Higher Education Study shows Sally Mason is the fifth highest paid college president in the country.
Last year alone, she earned more than a million dollars, the study looks at base salary and payments made to Mason. Her income was made up of her base salary of almost half a million, deferred payments and a retention bonus. The bonus was for her staying with the college for five years.
The Des Moines register reports that state records show she made a little under a million dollars last year; Mason's office has not commented on the discrepancy.
The presidents that made more than mason were from Ohio State, Texas A&M, North Dakota and University of Houston.
