North Liberty Mayor Dies of Heart Attack

North Liberty, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Friends and colleagues in north liberty are mourning the loss of their mayor.
Mayor Tom Salm died Sunday of a heart attack.
The news was announced on the city's website Sunday afternoon.
Salm became the city's mayor in April of 2007 to fill the role until a November election. He was then elected that fall and re-elected for two terms after that.
Right now, the mayor-pro tem will serve as mayor until the city council decides how to fill the position.
The mayor-pro tem released this statement about mayor Salm, saying quote "We thank him for his service as a mayor, councilor and planning and zoning commissioner. Our community is better today because of his contributions."
Tom Salm was 61 years old.
