DOT to Replant Goose Pond Trees

CENTER POINT, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28) - As the Highway 100 expansion gets underway, the Iowa DOT is taking steps to replace trees taken down at Goose Pond.

The department had to cut the trees down for construction purposes, but is planning to plant more than 2,500 trees, including 16 different types, all of which are native to Iowa.

Environmentalists with the DOT say replacing the trees should help to alleviate some of the effects from losing the original trees as well as restoring bat habitats.
