UPDATE: Victim Named In Deadly Fire

UPDATE (2:10 p.m. Tuesday): The Bremer County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim killed in the fire as 64-year-old Richard Michael Elliott. He was the only person living in the home.

An autopsy performed Tuesday shows Elliott died from carbon monoxide poisoning due to smoke inhalation. His death has been ruled accidental.

READLYN, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- One person is dead in Readlyn after a late night fire.

The Bremer County Sheriff's office says just after 7 Sunday night, they were called to third street where a house was engulfed in flames. After the fire was put out, firefighters found one person dead inside the home.

Right now, they can't say whether the person died from the fire or was already dead when it began. Authorities are waiting on an autopsy.

Police are not releasing any names until the family is contacted. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
