Iowa Egg Company Charged
IOWA CITY, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) -- An Iowa egg company is now facing charges in connection with a 2010 salmonella outbreak that made thousands of people sick.
Federal prosecutors filed charges today against two executives from Quality Egg.
They say the pair sold shell eggs that were poisonous for several months knowing that the expiration dates were inaccurate.
They are also charged with bribing a US Department of Agriculture inspector.
The outbreak led to an unprecedented recall of 550 million eggs.
