Former Teacher Acquitted Of Sex Charge
WEST UNION, Iowa (AP) -- A jury has found a former Iowa school teacher not guilty of a sexual exploitation charge.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports jurors deliberated for about 13 hours before they returned the verdict Wednesday for James Hanson.
Hanson, of West Union, was a teacher and girls' basketball coach for the North Fayette Community School District between 2006 and 2013. He was charged with felony sexual exploitation by a school employee after he was accused of fondling a female athlete.
Defense attorney John Hines says the verdict means justice was served.
