EVC Training Session Thursday

Cedar Rapids, IA (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Here at home, one group is preparing for the worst.
The United Way of Johnson and Washington Counties is training volunteers in case that kind of weather or any disaster strikes Iowa.
During times of disaster, the Emergency Volunteer Center handles some of the relief responsibilities like sandbagging, clean up and rebuilding.
Thursday, the EVC will be training more volunteers.
You don't need special training to sign up, the EVC matches your skills to what kind of help you want to give, like greeting, coordinating with other agencies, and managing other volunteers.
The training session will be from three to five Thursday night, and when you register (by getting in touch with the United Way) you will be given information on where to go.
