Roommates Return Thousands to Elderly Woman

New Paltz, NY (CBS 2/FOX 28) - Three New York roommates became rich after a thrift store purchase--but there is a big twist to the tale.
They bought a couch from the Salvation Army.
They got it home, and when they sat down on it to watch a felt odd; something "crinkled."
So, they pulled out the cushions and out falls envelopes....dozens of hundred-dollar-bills that add up to 41-thousand dollars.
The trio got so excited, starting thinking about what they would do with all that money, but then they noticed one envelope had a woman's name on it.
Turns out, it was an elderly woman's life savings; she'd hidden it in that couch years ago and the roommates, gave all that money back.
They say they don't ever regret giving the money back, and they did get a bit of a gift.
The woman gave them one-thousand dollars for their honesty.
